Amongst the verbal jabs being traded between the BJP and Congress party over the Rafale deal, where allegations of the deal being a “huge scam” have been made, IAF Chief Birender Singh Dhanoa has come out in support of the deal.

There is no controversy. What is the controversy, I don’t understand? It is not overpriced. The government has negotiated a very good deal. I think we have negotiated a better deal in the Rafale contract than what we did in MMRCA (Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft)
Birender Singh Dhanoa, IAF Chief

The furore over the Rafale deal begun when Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and other party members on Thursday, 16 November, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale fighter aircraft agreement, and asked the media why it did not question him for allegedly changing the “entire deal” to benefit a businessman.

Congress Spokesperson Randeep S Surjewala had also jumped into the fray, asking why the Modi government renegotiated a deal to be more expensive than the original.
