Odisha, MP Bypolls: BJD Wins Bijepur, Cong Keeps Mungaoli, Kolaras

Counting of Votes Begins for Mungaoli and Kolaras Bypolls

Counting for the seats of Mungaoli and Kolaras in Madhya Pradesh and Bijepur in Odisha began at 8 am on Wednesday, 28 Febraury. The elections for all three Assembly seats were held on 24 February, with a voter turnout of above 70 percent.

BJP Leads in Madhya Pradesh's Mungaoli, Congress Leads in Kolaras

After trailing in the morning, BJP candidate Baisahab Yadav is now leading in Mungaoli against Congress candidate Brijendra Singh Yadav. The Congress candidate was leading with 3,800 votes against the BJP's 105 initially. However, the saffron party caught pace and is now ahead by 305 votes after the second round of counting.

In Kolaras, Congress candidate Mahendra Singh Yadav has taken a lead with 1,256 votes after trailing behind BJP with 247 votes after the first round of counting.

Ruling BJD Ahead in Bijepur

After the second round of counting, the ruling party in Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), is leading in Bijepur. The BJD has increased its lead by more than 5,500 votes, according to India.com.

These are the numbers so far in Bijepur:

  • BJD: 11,667
  • BJP: 5,910
  • Congress: 638

Congress Takes Lead in Mungaoli, Expands Lead in Kolaras in Third Round of Counting

After the third round of counting, the Congress leads in Mungaoli by 121 votes, while the party has increased their lead by 1,421 votes in Kolaras in Madhya Pradesh.

Congress Lead in Mungaoli Strengthens, Massive Lead for BJD in Bijepur

The Congress has further strengthened its lead over BJP by 1,300 votes in the third round of counting in the Mungaoli bypolls in Madhya Pradesh. In Kolaras too, the Congress has maintained their lead with 207 votes.

On the other hand, the BJD has been dominating Bijepur in Odisha with a lead of over 12,000 votes.
