L-G Najeeb Jung Asked Me Not to Come to Office: Swati Maliwal
Swati Maliwal alleges that her office has been locked, nameplate removed and all files taken away from her office.
Swati Maliwal triggered a fresh round of confrontation on Thursday when she claimed that her office had been locked, her nameplate removed and all her files taken away from her office.
Maliwal had been appointed as DCW chief by the Kejriwal government – an appointment that was struck down by L-G Najeeb Jung since his approval had not been sought on it.
Why has my office been locked and why has my nameplate – and those of other members – been removed from the DCW office? I am not going anywhere...sitting in air conditioned rooms doesn’t give me power. I will work for the cause of women and I will make DCW the strongest in the world. This is not an issue that will scare us or make us appeal to higher authorities. I am here to do serious work... I had incidentally also been trying to meet the Lt Governor for three days on a different matter.
– Swati Maliwal
Maliwal had yesterday posted a tweet claiming that L-G Najeeb Jung had called her to tell her that she should not come to office from today. She claimed that he’d also told her that all her files were being taken back.
However, she later backtracked to say that it was the “L-G’s secretariat and not Jung” which had communicated to her office that she should not continue in the post. When asked for the name of the person who had allegedly called her, Maliwal declared that she would communicate the same only to the L-G and the CM.
Meanwhile, sources in the L-G’s office strongly rejected Maliwal’s claim that Jung had called her personally, insisting that none from his staff had even talked to her.
The L-G is very upset with the way such allegations are being levelled against him.
