Two weeks after Vikas Swarup was named India’s envoy to Canada, Gopal Baglay is ready to replace him as the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Baglay currently heads the division dealing with Pakistan – and belongs to the 1992 batch of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). In his long career, he has also served as deputy high commissioner to Pakistan.

I wish my successor Gopal Baglay all the best for the new assignment. He will take MEA communications to the next level, online & offline! pic.twitter.com/kNPNXAsAxJ
