As Lalu Prasad Yadav was being given his 3.5 year sentence by the Ranchi court, his son Tejashwi Yadav addressed a press conference in Patna to make his and the party’s stand on the RJD chief’s conviction clear.
Tejashwi started the press conference by saying that he was there to deliver Lalu ji’s message.

He said that all the party workers are working towards circulating Lalu’s message.

He expressed disappointment that his father was being imprisoned despite being the person chosen by the public, while Nitish Kumar – who he did not mention by name – was sitting in government.
The disappointment is that the one chosen by the people is in jail today and the one not chosen by the people has been sneakily sitting in the government.Tejashwi Yadav
He also addressed the future of the party after Lalu, saying that throughout the state’s history, the RJD had overcome many such challenges and won battles on the strength of their unity.
Expressing their supporters’ anger, he said:
There is anger among the people at the way Lalu ji has been framed by the BJP and especially the role Nitish Kumar Ji has played because of his insecurities – he was only afraid of Lalu ji. The way Gujarat results came out, the only thing to see there is that the BJP, RSS and NDA can only be given a decent challenge by Lalu Ji. Hence, he has been framed in a conspiracy.Tejashwi Yadav
He also said that the charges were false and were brought against him to instill fear, but that it had failed.
Lalu ji had said in front of everyone that he will neither fear nor bend nor compromise his ideology. Lalu is an ideology that all the people of the country believe in.Tejashwi Yadav
