She was known to be the Twitter agony aunt for Indians with passport, visa, and other problems on foreign affairs and now her successor is following suit.
Former External Affair Minister Sushma Swaraj’s successor in the new Modi Cabinet- S Jaishankar joined Twitter soon after taking charge and has already started solving problem on the social media platform.
In his first tweet ever, Jaishankar said he will follow Swaraj’s footsteps and in his first few days, seems to have lived up to his word.
On Saturday 1 June, a Twitter user named Rinky wrote to the minister on Twitter seeking help for her daughter who is in the USA.
Jaishankar replied promptly, tagging the Indian ambassador to the US and asking him to help her out.
The woman, thereafter, tweeted that the embassy had contacted her.
In another incident, Jaishankar was seen helping a man of Indian-origin who wants to come back from Saudi Arabia.
The minister tweeted back, lauding the Deputy Chief of Mission in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Suhel Ajaz Khan for taking up the issue and also asked to be kept apprised of the same.
Twitter users who said they would miss Swaraj, appreciated the fact that Jaishankar was keeping up precedents set by her.
