Tej Bahadur, the BSF Jawan who was sacked in 2017, has resigned from Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) after the party joined hands with the BJP to stake claim to form the government in Haryana.

He announced his resignation in a video posted on Facebook where the former BSF Jawan accused Jannayak Janata Party’s chief Dushyant Chautala of betraying the trust of people.

“Dushyant Chautala has betrayed the people of Haryana, and those who voted for him, by supporting the BJP to form the government. The people who gave the JJP 10 seats did so not because of him or the JJP name, but because of the ideals of Devi Lal,” Tej Bahadur Yadav said.

In 2017, Tej Bahadur Yadav was sacked from the BSF after he complained of bad food being served to the jawans.

Earlier, during the Lok Sabha elections in May, he announced his decision to contest the election on a Samajwadi Party ticket from Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His nomination was later dismissed by the Election Commission citing discrepancies in his papers.

Yadav, who joined the JJP last month, contested the election from Karnal against Manohar Lal Khattar. He finished on the third spot, with only 3,175 votes as compared to Khattar's 79,722. Tarlochan Singh of the Congress ranked second with 34,601 votes.
