Senior BJP MLA from Silchar in Assam, Dilip Kumar Paul has made a claim that cows produce more milk when they listen to flute music similar to that played by Lord Krishna, Hindustan Times reported. Paul made the claim while speaking at a cultural event in his constituency on Saturday, 24 August.
“I told the gathering about the positive impacts of music and dance and how it has been scientifically proved that if cows listen to tunes on flute, like the ones played by Lord Krishna, their milk production rises,” Paul said on Tuesday, according to Hindustan Times.
‘Science of Ancient Times’
According to The Indian Express, he also said, “This was the science of ancient times and we are going to bring this technique back to modern times.”
He added that though he was not a scientist, he had vast knowledge in Indian traditional study, which is why he knew these claims were true.
Speaking about the facts behind his claim, Paul said that it was based on research done by a Gujarat-based NGO a few years ago on the connection between flute tunes and milk yield by a cow.
He also added that the milk of India cows is much tastier and healthier and products made from milk of Indian cows is better than those made from foreign breeds.
Paul also sought an end to smuggling of cattle from Indian to Bangladesh. “We call the cow ‘gau-mata’ (mother). But thousands of them are being smuggled to Bangladesh every year. This should be stopped,” the former deputy speaker of Assam assembly said, according to Hindustan Times.
