Seeking to create awareness among people on the 'multi-dimensional' importance of the cow and need to protect cattle population in India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise a 24-hour long Gau Raksha Asthayama Yagna in Bengaluru on Friday, 2 February.

The yagna has been organised to create awareness among people about the multi-dimensional importance of the cow and the need to protect the cattle population to strengthen the rural economy at the grassroot level.

This would be followed by Akhanda Ramayana for 24 hours, the statement added.

A special theatre troupe from Janakapuri, the birth place of goddess Sita, will perform a special dance programme titled 'Sri Rama's Wedding,' Goenka said in a press note.

BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa, Union minister Anant Kumar and others will attend the closing ceremony on 3 February.

The Assembly polls for the 224 constituencies in Karnataka are expected to be held in April-May this year. Earlier this month, BJP President Amit Shah visited Karnataka to launch of the saffron party’s push to wrest control of the state from the Congress.

During his visit, Shah vowed to remove the Congress government from the state.

The motive of this yatra is to uproot the Congress from all the 224 seats in the state.

As the war of words erupted between the rivals, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on 10 January alleged that there are certain “extremist elements” within the BJP and its ideological mentor, the RSS, and that his government would not tolerate anyone who ties to hamper communal harmony.

The BJP and RSS have some extremist elements within them. My government won’t tolerate those who disrupt peace.
