The BJP launched the 'Sampark for Samarthan' (contact for support) to mark the fourth anniversary of the Modi government, as it prepares for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Shah will personally contact at least 50 people as part of the programme, the party said.

The BJP, in a statement, said its 4,000 functionaries, including chief ministers, Union ministers, panchayat members, across the country will contact one lakh persons who are recognised names in their fields, to inform them about the government’s achievements.

In its fifth year, the government will aim to bring about a change in farmers' lives by offering them one-and-a-half times of their input cost for their produce. It will also aim to give Rs 5 lakh health insurance coverage to 50 crore people, Shah said.

"Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the country's prestige is at its best in the world since its Independence," he claimed.

Fifty lakh BJP workers identified for the exercise will reach every household, he said.
