A delegation of five opposition parties, including JD(U), CPI(M) and NCP, will visit Kairana in Uttar Pradesh to meet residents after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) claim of exodus of Hindus.
The BJP had sent a nine-member team to the area to take stalk of the alleged migration due to fear of criminals. The claims made by BJP president Amit Shah, the opposition believes, created “anxiety and tension” in Western Uttar Pradesh.
The delegation which will visit Kandhla and Kairana include the folowing leaders:
- JD(U) MP KC Tyagi
- CPI(M) MP Md Salim
- CPI’s D Raja
- NCP MP DP Tripathi
- RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha
BJP MP Hukum Singh had set in motion a political slugfest after releasing two lists of Hindus who had migrated from the region.
The move backfired after UP police, Shamli district authorities and media houses found out that the lists were far from accurate. Singh later altered his stance.

The fact-finding team was announced by Shah on Monday during the course of its National Executive meeting in Allahabad after Singh alleged that the reason behind migration was communal.
