AAP’s Rebel MLA Alka Lamba Disqualified From Delhi Assembly

The Chandni Chowk Assembly seat falls vacant with the disqualification of Lamba from 6 September.

Delhi Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on Thursday, 18 September, disqualified Alka Lamba from the Assembly under the anti-defection law, days after she announced that she was quitting the AAP and returning to the Congress.

According to a statement, the disqualification of Lamba takes effect from 6 September.

With Lamba's disqualification, the Chandni Chowk Assembly seat has fallen vacant.

The decision was taken on the petition of Aam Aadmi Party legislator Saurabh Bharadwaj who said that the Chandni Chowk MLA recently joined the Congress.
