Karunanidhi's daughter and DMK MP MK Kanimozhi has also been acquitted of all charges by the CBI court.

According to Firstpost, A Raja wrote in the letter that he places the 2G verdict at Karunanidhi's feet with gratitude.

You preserved me in snow so I wouldn’t dissolve in the spectrum battle and I am waiting to hear your words. The spectrum allegations tainted our ideological movement. Spectrum politics gave a handle to those who couldn’t shrink your governance. Spectrum battle was conceived by individuals and waged by institutions — including CVC, CBI, JVC.

A Raja, once a powerful Dalit face in the DMK, has spent a number of years in political exile, reported NDTV, following allegations of masterminding the 2G scam, allotting airwaves and second generation or 2G licenses at throwaway prices to cell phone networks in exchange for illicit favours. According to the national auditor, this scam may have costs the exchequer Rs 1.76 lakh crore. He was also arrested in 2011 and jailed for almost a year.

According to NDTV, the trial court judge, acquitting all accused in the case, said, "a huge scam was seen by everyone where there was none."

I have absolutely no hesitation in holding that prosecution has miserably failed to prove any charge against any of the accused, made in its well-choreographed chargesheet.

Karunanidhi's daughter MK Kanimozhi, according to NDTV, said after her acquittal, that now she will do all that she can to strengthen the party and work for the people of Tamil Nadu.
