69% Prefer Modi as PM, 360 Seats for NDA in 2019: India Today Poll

Even after demonetisation, people believe that a Modi-led NDA can win as many as 360 seats in the general election.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to have unbeaten popularity, even after demonetisation, with 69 percent saying that he is best suited as PM, according to the Mood of the Nation survey conducted by India Today in collaboration with Karvy which was conducted across 19 states.

Rahul Gandhi trailed 55 points behind Modi.

The survey revealed that people believe that the Modi-led NDA can win as many as 360 seats in the General Election, which is higher than what was predicted in August 2016 in a similar poll.

Thirty-two percent believe that Rahul Gandhi is the best alternative to PM Modi, while only 10% percent favoured Arvind Kejriwal.

In the race for the best performing chief minister, Shivraj Chauhan ranks the highest, followed by Nitish Kumar.

As many as 17 percent believe that Atal Bihar Vajpayee is the best prime minister compared to 9 percent who think Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the best PM.

A massive 80% people also endorse Modi ji’s demonetisation move and many believe it will help curb black money.

68 percent of the people polled feel that the government should lower income tax rates in the upcoming Budget, while 61 percent now want the NDA government to crack down on funding of political parties.

The RBI’s image and credibility has been hit due to demonetisation, 53 percent of the respondents say. Besides, 55 percent believe the move was a bad one or implemented badly and could have been done in a better manner.

In the poll, 43% of the people said that India’s relationship with the US will improve under Donald Trump.
