1. KEM Medical Intern Missing
A young doctor interning at KEM Hospital has been missing for the past four days. Ajinkya Maurya, 23, was last seen leaving his hostel on Monday. He walked out without his mobile and wallet.
A missing person’s complaint has been filed with the Bhoiwada police and his family and friends have circulated his picture on social media, appealing for help in tracing him.
Ajinkya was wearing an orange polo T-shirt and black trackpants when he was last seen at the hostel, which is located on the hospital campus.

2. Man Pulls Woman’s Pants and Molests Her in Mumbai, Arrested
A 33-year-old man was arrested for stalking a 40-year-old woman, pulling her pants, and molesting her on New Link Road, in Kandivli (West).
According to the Charkop police, the complainant had gone out of her Borivli (West) residence for a walk on Tuesday and was headed towards Malad around 10pm. The accused, Ramraj Pawar, who was on a scooter, started staring at her.
Pawar then got off the two-wheeler, parked it, and started following the woman. He then sneaked up behind her and pulled her pants. Shocked, the woman asked him what he was doing, but Pawar came in front of her and began touching her inappropriately.

3. Rs 10 Lakh Insurance for Govindas
Following the Supreme Court’s and the Bombay High Court’s directives on age and height restrictions during the human pyramid formation at the Dahi Handi festival in the past two years, the state-based Dahi Handi Samnvay Samitee fears that the festival is losing its sheen. To attract active participation this year, the organisation has collaborated with the Oriental Insurance Company to offer Rs 10 lakh accident and death insurance to participants for a one-time premium of Rs 75. The insurance will be applicable for one month, from the first day of practice till the day of the festival. Earlier, the insurance was for Rs 2 lakh at a one-time premium of Rs 100.

4. Woman Forced Into Flesh Trade by Husband, In-Laws
A 19-year-old woman from Mira Road has accused her husband and in-laws of forcing her into flesh trade.
Police have arrested three persons, including the husband, and are on the lookout for the victim’s mother-in-law and few other relatives.
According to the woman’s complaint, the accused forced her to work at a dance barin Goregaon and also sent her to cities like Kolkata and Bengaluru for “special clients”.

5. 1.25 Lakh Govt Staff to Go on Strike Next Week
Over 1.25 lakh state government employees will go on a three-day strike, beginning August 7, to push a slew of long-pending demands, including implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission’s recommendations and raising the retirement age from 58 to 60.
Five-day work weeks, two years of maternity leave for women officers on the lines of the one offered by the central government, filling 1.80 lakh vacant posts and promotions in a time-bound manner are some of the other demands.

6. Rs 500-Crore Land Scam: After Loss of Face, BMC Chief Warns of Jail Time
Heads are likely to roll in the BMC’s law and development plan departments as the civic body tries to save face after losing a plot worth Rs 500-crore in Jogeshwari in the Supreme Court last week.
A day after the Congress alleged a land scam and sought an investigation into the “mysterious” death of a BMC worker associated with the case, Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta said on Thursday that the BMC would make all efforts to save the plot and stringent action would be taken against all errant officials.

7. 500 HSG Societies at Bank Door for Self-Redevelopment
The Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank’s (MDCCB) self-redevelopment scheme for co-operative housing societies has elicited huge response.
So far, around 500 housing societies across Mumbai have shown interest in redeveloping their own buildings without the involvement of builders.
The MDCCB has sanctioned loans worth Rs 52 crore to eight housing societies, out of which four have started work. Redevelopment of two societies is at an advance stage of completion. Loans worth Rs 770 crore have been pre-sanctioned for 19 societies.
