Woman Posed as Man to Marry Two Women for Dowry, Now Arrested
Sen made sure that the victims never looked at her body and used sex toys to maintain the illusion of being a man.
Police arrested a 26-year-old woman from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh who posed as a man and married two women from Nainital and allegedly tortured them for dowry, the Indian Express reported.
The woman, identified as one Sweety Sen, had created a fake Facebook profile as 'Krishna Sen' in 2013 where she posted photos of herself dressed as a man. She used this account to get in touch with the women she married.
The two women Sen married were from Uttarakhand, like herself. The first she married in 2014 was from Kathgodam and the other victim she married in 2016 was from Kaladhungi. She approached these women from the fake Facebook profile she had set up, Nainital SSP Janmejay Khanduri told the Indian Express.
Sen made sure that both the victims never looked at her body and used sex toys to maintain the illusion of being a man.
However, in October 2017, her first wife filed a complaint against Sen in Kathgodam police station under the charges of dowry. She had alleged that Sen had taken Rs 8.5 lakh from her family.
It was only during questioning that it was revealed that Sen was actually a woman.
BL Vishwakarma, SHO in Kathgodam, said that they had arrested Sen for dowry and domestic violence. "We had no clue that Sen was a woman. During questioning, Sen said she was a woman. We got her medical examination done (on Wednesday evening) and it was established that she was a woman,” he told Indian Express.
Sen has been sent to Haldwani jail on Wednesday evening.
The police is yet to question the parents, who they say had visited the families of both the women Sen married. The family also attended and organised both the weddings, according to the Indian Express report.
