1. Horrific Assault on Mumbai Woman on Train Was Filmed

The Mumbai police on Friday, 6 April arrested a man for molesting and trying to strangle a women on a local train late on the night of 5 April.

The incident occurred on a Thane bound train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station, in the compartment allotted for differently-abled passengers.

A video shot by one of the commuters, which has gone viral on social media, shows the man dragging the woman by her hair and then attempting to strangle her.

2. Delhi: Man Held for Sexual Assault, Murder of Seven-Year-Old Boy

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and murdering a seven-year-old boy in southeast Delhi’s Okhla Industrial Area.

According to police, the boy’s parents filed a missing persons complaint on 2 April. The parents told police that their son was playing outside their home when he went missing.

“A search was launched for the boy… and announcements were made from loudspeakers and temples in the locality. During investigation, it was found that the child was last seen with one Sandeep Singh alias Dangar (21),” DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said.

3. Right-Wing Groups in Uttarakhand Town Vandalise Shops Owned by Muslims Over Fake Social Media Post

Few right-wing groups, and the local traders’ body in Uttarakhand’s Agastyamuni town, on 6 April, vandalised upto 15 shops owned by Muslim traders in the town, after a fake video was shared on social media along with statements alleging that a 10-year-old Hindu girl had been raped by a Muslim man in the town.

Atleast 2,000 persons gathered near the police station at Agastyamuni, on the morning of 6 April, demanding justice for the alleged rape victim. Simultaneously, upto 15 shops of Muslim traders were vandalised by the agitators, including people from the town’s traders’ body, a local students’ group Jai Ho, and members of the ABVP.

4. Bengaluru Bizman Posts Obscene Photos of Ex-Girlfriend From Mumbai, Arrested

A 36-year-old businessman from Bengaluru was arrested on 4 April for allegedly circulating objectionable photographs of his ex-girlfriend after she broke up with him for cheating on her.

The complainant, a consultant in a private firm, met the accused on social media in 2016 and fell in love. The complainant cancelled her engagement with her childhood friend as she wanted to marry the accused.

The complainant and the accused were in a live-in relationship in 2017. The accused took Rs 5 lakh from her saying he wanted to start a poker club in his home town.

5. Gurgaon Pvt School Murder: Hearing Adjourned to 10 April as Accused's Counsel Unwell

The Gurgaon special children’s court on 6 April adjourned the hearing on a batch of petitions filed on behalf of the juvenile accused in the private school murder case to 10 April. The hearing was adjourned because the juvenile’s counsel was unwell and the election to the district bar association that was held on 6 April.

The court will hold a hearing on four petitions filed by the juvenile’s counsel, including the ones pertaining to his preliminary assessment report and the his remand granted to the CBI.

The 16-year-old, who is accused of killing a Class 2 student of a private school in Bhondsi, was sent to the Faridabad observation home on 11 November, four days after being arrested by the CBI.

6. Minor Murdered Near Mumbai; Cops Sent to UP to Nab Suspect

The Bhiwandi police, who are investigating the murder of a four-year-old girl who was found with her hands cut off on 4 April, said one of the girl’s neighbours was missing and suspect him to be the prime accused. A team has been sent to Uttar Pradesh to nab him.

The police and the crime branch have questioned more than 20 residents after the body of the minor, identified as Payal Prasad, was found in a jungle area near her house on 4 April. She was a resident of Gautam Nagar in Bhoiwada in Bhiwandi, around 36km from Mumbai.

7. Woman Promised a Job in Dubai, Was Sold to a Sheikh Instead

For a young woman from Hyderabad, the job of a salesgirl in Dubai was meant to be an escape from poverty and a tough life back home in India. Instead, she spent the last three weeks in horror - cheated and sold to a sheikh in the Sharjah to work as a domestic help.

The woman said she accepted the job of a saleswoman at a supermarket in Dubai from an agent in her home town, Hyderabad. The agent, however, sent her to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates on 18 March. Upon reaching there, she says she was confined in an office.

"Later a Sheikh bought me and took me to Bahrain. From there I was taken to Oman and kept as a domestic help," she told news agency ANI.

8. Man Missing for 3 Months Allegedly Beheaded With a Spade

A man who was allegedly missing for three-and-a-half months was beheaded with a spade, police said on 6 April. Police have arrested four people for allegedly kidnapping and killing him, they added. They also recovered the victim's remains, his motorbike and cash that the accused allegedly robbed from him.

Ajit Kumar, a resident of Gyaspur village in Ghaziabad, lodged a complaint with the police in March saying that his brother Bobby had gone missing in December. Police said he filed the complaint after three months as he had lost all hopes of his brother returning home.

9. Missing Youth Found Dead, Kin Call It Murder

A 19-year-old man was found dead with severe head and face injuries near Sangam Vihar on 6 April morning. Police said three of his friends have been detained for questioning after the family alleged they had lured the victim, Deepak Chokkar, from their house earlier this week. The body has been sent for an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death, police said.

DCP (south) Romil Baaniya said they received a call at 10 AM when the victim’s relative spotted the body near the Budh Bazar. A team that reached the spot found the body partially decomposed. They were unable to ascertain if Chokkar was murdered or had fallen off accidentally.
