A TMC worker, identified as Ajijar Rahaman, was killed in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar on Wednesday, 5 June, news agency ANI reported.

This is the second time a TMC worker has been killed in the state during this week.

A local TMC leader has accused a BJP leader of the crime, and alleged that he might have done it with the help of his associates.

“Azhar Ali of the BJP and some other people beat up and killed Ajijar Rahaman,” the TMC leader was quoted by ANI as saying.

BJP’s MP from the area, Nisith Pramanik, however refuted the charges. He said that the incident likely occurred due to personal issues and that the TMC is trying to politicise the killing. Pramanik also told ANI that even the victim’s family has said it was due to personal issues.

This comes a couple of days after TMC leader Normal Kundu was shot dead in North Kolkata’s Dum Dum area.
