After Karnataka mining baron Janadhana Reddy raised many eyebrows for his daughter’s extravagant wedding last month, it was Kerala liquor baron and politician Biju Ramesh’s turn earlier this month.
His daughter Megha married Congress MLA Adoor Prakash’s son Ajaykrishnan in a grand ceremony on 5 December.
Their wedding video, shot by Lumiere Films, is as filmy as it gets. With plenty of shots of the coy bride, her joyous friends, anecdotes from the family and the montages of slow-motion and bird's eye view shots with background music, it’s an apt 11-minute recap of the grand wedding.
With 20,000 guests, the wedding venue at Rajadhani Gardens at Venpalavattom in Thiruvananthapuram also incorporated a replica of the Mysore palace and Akshardham temple.
While many prominent politicians stayed away from the wedding and its grandiose display of wealth, Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, PJ Kurien, former Kerala Assembly Speaker N Sakthan, Andaman and Nicobar Lt Governor Vakkom Purushottaman, Tamil Nadu Minister S P Velu Mani and former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair were some of the attendees.
