Narendra Modi seems to be getting along quite well with his predecessor, even as the BJP and Congress trade blows over former TRAI chairman Pradeep Baijal’s accusation that Manmohan Singh had asked him to cooperate during the 2G case.

Hours after slamming the NDA government, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Singh went to 7 Race Course Road, an address he inhabited for 10 years as PM.

“Very happy to meet Dr. Manmohan Singh-ji & welcome him back to 7RCR. We had a great meeting,” Modi tweeted later. Manmohan Singh was characteristic in his silence about personal feelings.

But earlier in the day, Singh had hit out at the Modi government saying it was “harping” on corruption to divert people’s attention to non-issues.

In a scathing attack, Singh alleged that institutions of democracy are under threat and the entire edifice of the welfare state is being dismantled in the guise of promoting faster economic growth.
