Student oganisations of Delhi, Bengaluru, and Rajasthan have taken to the streets to protest the murder and alleged rape of a 17-year-old college student in Rajasthan.

The teenager, identified as Delta Meghwal, is a dalit. The incident is being treated as an “institutional murder” in the light of Hyderabad University scholar Rohith Vemula’s death.

According to online portal theladiesfinger, the teenager was found in a water tank of the Jain Adarsh Teacher Training Institute for girls in Nokha, Bikaner on 29 March.

The FIR filed by Meghwal’s parents in the case states that Meghwal had called her father saying she was raped on 28 March.

Delta was also said to have been subjected to caste abuse by the hostel warden. He asked her to clean the room of a male Physical Education teacher, who allegedly raped and killed her.
