Man Stripped, Thrashed in Viral Video From Meghalaya, 1 Identified

After a disturbing video of a naked man being beaten up by a bunch of people in Meghayala went viral, local cops, on Wednesday, 5 June, said that they have identified one of the attackers, reported IANS.

The video was reportedly shot in Ranikor village in the southwest Khasi hills. South West Khasi Hills police chief Maxwell Syiem told IANS that they are still not sure about the reason behind the attack or when it had occurred.

According to a report in Northeast Now, the video has been circulated in different WhatsApp groups in Meghayala since Tuesday, 4 June.

In the video, an unidentified man can be seen getting beaten up by multiple people in the rain. They proceed to hit and kick him several times, all over his body, while the man screams in pain and crying for ‘Allah’s help’, reported IANS.

Meghalaya Police chief R Chandranathan said that he has directed police to initiate action against those involved in the "barbaric attack" even as they are yet to ascertain the identity of the victim.

The source of the video is, as of yet, unknown, reported Northeast Now.
