22-year-old Abhijeet Yadav, son of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council Chairman Ramesh Yadav, was found dead at his residence in Hazratganj on Sunday, 21 October.

Investigations have revealed that the deceased’s mother strangled him to death after he came home drunk and had an argument with her on Saturday night (20 October).

His mother confessed that the deceased came drunk in the night and was arguing with her, after which she committed the crime. Police have arrested her. Further investigation is underway.

The mother’s confession came after the police, on Monday morning, detained the mother and Yadav’s elder brother in Lucknow.

The postmortem report indicates that Yadav had died due to "ante-mortem strangulation".

Yadav's body was found at his Darul Shafa residence and his family members informed the police, reported PTI.

According to reports, district authorities suspect foul play in the death of Yadav, who died under mysterious circumstances at his home.

Autopsy Reveals Strangulation

A senior police official from Lucknow police told The New Indian Express that Yadav’s family was vehemently against getting a post-mortem examination. However, they were stopped by the Hazratganj police on their way to the cremation ground, following which the police took the body to King George’s Medical University.

The autopsy reports revealed a mark indicating strangulation visible on the 22-year-old man’s neck, The New Indian Express reported.

When the police reached the house, his family said that it was a natural death so they don’t want any investigation. Police were suspicious, however, and sent the body for postmortem and it was found that he was strangulated to death.

Police Terms it Unnatural Death

Earlier, the police had not suspected the cause of Yadav’s death and said that the case indicated unnatural death.

"As of now it seems to be an unnatural death... Whether the death is natural or not will be clear only after the post-mortem examination is conducted," a Lucknow police official had previously told PTI.

The police carried out the post mortem forcefully, despite resistance from family members who had rushed the body for cremation, which further confirmed the suspicions of a possible attack on Yadav having caused his death, reported The New Indian Express.
