The post-mortem report of the father of Unnao’s rape victim has revealed that he died due to septicemia which is a kind of a bloodstream infection or blood poisoning, reported The Times of India (TOI).

The post-mortem report also states that he wasn’t given proper medical treatment in the judicial custody which led to his death, as per TOI.

The autopsy report lists blood poisoning due to perforation of colon as the cause of death, reported NDTV.

Perforation of colon is a part of intestines which can be caused by blunt trauma to the abdomen or a gunshot wound. It can also be due to a number of other reasons.

According to NDTV, the report has also pointed out multiple injuries near his abdomen, buttocks, thighs, and knee and arm joints.

The panel of doctors who conducted the post-mortem noted 14 injuries on the girl’s father’s body. They also reported fresh jaw injuries and two broken teeth, TOI pointed out.

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Unnao told NDTV that it was highly likely that he was attacked in the jail.

It is entirely possible that there could have been a smaller undetected perforation that became larger later.

The 55-year-old man who was fighting for justice for his daughter was arrested by the Unnao police and died in custody on 9 April. The brother of the BJP MLA was arrested on 10 April for the assault and was sent to jail for 14 days.

The family of the deceased has maintained that he was “killed” in the police custody. The girl has alleged rape by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his brothers.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Singh Sengar has accused the girl’s family for maligning his image as he tried to protect the four men the girl had accused of rape.

According to NDTV, the BJP MLA has also refused to step down.
