The bodies of nine people were recovered in search and rescue operations in Greater Noida’s Shah Beri village, where a six-storey building fell on an adjacent four-storey building late 17 July, ANI reported. The rescue operations were completed on Friday, 20 July.

The police have arrested three people, including the landowner, Meerut zone Inspector General Ram Kumar told PTI. The FIR mentioned 18 people who may face a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The four-storey building sheltered 18 families, according to an NDTV report.

Four National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and a dog squad were rushed to the spot.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those dead in the building collapse.

Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya said the district administration and NDRF teams were engaged in rescue and search operations. "Some people are still feared to be trapped in the rubble. Our thoughts are with the families of those who died in the incident," he said.
