Udaipur Man Booked For Tying Dog to Car, Dragging it For Meters

A resident of Rajasthan’s Udaipur was booked and arrested under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act on Sunday, 3 November, for allegedly tying a dog to his car and dragging it for several meters in Kelva.

The man has been identified as Babu Khan, reported Hindustan Times.

Police said the accused claims that he found the body of a stray dog and tied it to the back of the car to dispose it in the forest. However, locals allege that the dog was alive at the time of the incident.

Police took cognizance of the incident after a video of the act went viral on the internet.

“The post-mortem report revealed that the dog died of trauma and septicemia which he suffered due to dragging fro meters behind the car. The accused was arrested on Sunday but later granted bail by a local court. We will submit a charge sheet soon,”

Meanwhile, animal rights activist have condemned the act heavily and said that it reflects on the sick psychology of the accused, reported Hindustan Times.
