A lot of fake news out there involves media houses deliberately twisting facts to peddle their own narratives. But when the Times of India interviewed who they thought was Hulk Hogan, the tables appeared to have turned.

The Times of Bangalore, an advertorial segment of Times of India, ran an interview with the legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan...only it was actually his doppleganger, who was more than happy to get his share of the spotlight!

As reported by Newslaundry, the matter came to notice only after an observant twitter user pointed it out.

According to Newslaundry, the Times of Bangalore report had quoted ‘Hogan’, who the paper said is called ‘Mr Wrestling’ nowadays, as saying how much he loved the “beautiful people of Chandigarh” and butter-chicken, and how impressed he was with the boxing talent in India.

Remarkably, the Times of India had run another report on a wrestling match in Chandigarh, where they had posted a picture of Hogan’s doppelganger alongside the article, with the caption “Hulk Hogan look-alike, Mr Wrestling brought cheer to the audiences.”

While the Times of India has taken down the report, saying “The story has been removed as it was factually incorrect”, several foreign sports media companies have picked up on the news.

Gerweck.news, quoting the Times of Bangalore interview said:

The Bangalore Times newspaper which forms part of The Times of India published a hilarious fake interview with a fake Hulk Hogan, complete with a photo of the impostor.
