Three Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) militants have been apprehended by security forces in Assam’s Dhubri district.
Acting on specific intelligence, Army and Police personnel set up a check post late last night on the Dhubri-Bagribari road, a defence spokesman said.
A vehicle approached the check post, and on spotting the security forces, the occupants tried to flee from the spot, but were overpowered.
The militants were allegedly planning a kidnapping for ransom and have been identified as Jiaur Rahman, Basir Uddin Sheikh and Bilal Hussein.
A 7.65 mm pistol and some ammunition was recovered from the militants, the spokesman added.
