In a country that badly needs equal opportunities for women in the workspace, SHeroes.in is doing its bit. A large number of high-profile investors have invested in this startup that, in its own words, is seeking to be a community “where women can find mentorship, career resources and career content along with career advice.”

According to a report in the Economic Times this morning, SHeroes.in has raised its angel round of funding worth Rs 5 crore.

The funding was led by Raghav Bahl-owned Quintillion Media and 500 Startups.

Sairee Chahal, the woman who founded the jobs and career community, is proud of her enviable bevy of investors – and rightly so. The list also includes names such as Freshdesk’s Girish Mathrubootham, entrepreneurs Indus Khaitan of Bitzer Mobile (which was acquired by Oracle) and Krishna Mehra of Capillary Technologies.

It was important to bring in the right kind of investors, as we build a high impact, high growth organisation. Our investors truly believe in the purpose and vision of SHEROES.in and we are delighted to have them support us. The raise will help SHEROES improve the quality of its product and scale its community.

The investors too have lent their voice to the initiative, asserting their belief in SHeroes’ project and promising support.

SHEROES.in helps women find opportunities including work from home jobs, part time jobs, corporate roles, startup options including other entrepreneurial options like franchising and affiliates.

Ritu Kapur, co-founder of Quintillion Media, who will join the Sheroes board soon, has also expressed delight at the “never-before-seen” business model that Sairee Chahal is promulgating.

Sairee and her team have created a unique opportunity for Indian women, empowering them with access to careers, while allowing them to work from where they’re most productive. SHEROES is a rare enterprise opening up corporates and other employers to a very active work force. We are delighted to be with Sairee as she innovates on building a never-before business model in India.

According to the ET report, SHeroes plans to use the angel round proceeds raised to “invest in community and product”. Chahal also claimed that SHeroes is the “largest professional forum for women in the world”.

The core of our philosophy is to help women navigate career stages and find work that fits their life.
