Swami Aseemanand Granted Bail in Samjhauta Express Blast Case

  • Swami Aseemanand, the main accused in the 2007 Samjhauta Express blast case, was on Friday granted bail  by a special NIA court. 
  • The bail was granted on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and two surety bonds of Rs 1 lakh each by a court in Haryana's Panchkula district.
  • Multiple blasts occurred in the Samjhauta Express near Dewana station in Panipat on the intervening night of February 18 and 19, 2007. It killed  68 people.
