Taking a sharp dig at critics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday, 11 September, that it is unfortunate that some people feel that the country has gone back in time to the 16th century the moment they hear the words "om" and "cow".
There are a few who get a jolt like in case of a “current" (electric shock) the moment they hear these words, the PM said, while addressing a gathering at the launch of several programmes in Mathura.
“It is unfortunate for the country that for some people, hearing the mere words – ‘Om’ and ‘Cow’ – gives them goosebumps. They think it will take them back to the 16th century. The ones disseminating such information, the ones with such knowledge...they are the ones who have left no stone unturned to destroy the nation.”Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Asserting that his government has done an unprecedented job in the last 100 days, the PM said “I believe we will continue to get your support for the development of the nation.”
He also lauded Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s efforts in “his fight against encephalitis".
“Yogi ji fought all his life against encephalitis and brought it to the attention of Parliament and country. PM Modi launched the ambitious National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) in Mathura, among a slew of government schemes for farmers.
With 100 percent funding from the Centre of Rs 12,652 crore for a period of five years till 2024, NADCP aims at vaccinating over 500 Million livestock including cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats and pigs against foot and mouth disease.
The programme also aims at vaccinating 36 million female bovine calves annually in its fight against Brucellosis disease.
