Uttar Pradesh (UP) Shia Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to close all madrassas in the country, alleging indoctrination by ISIS in madrassas, news agency ANI reported.

In his letter, Rizvi said that if madrassas are not shut down, ISIS will grow in influence and in about 15 years, more than half of the Muslims will follow their ideology.

He said that ISIS is a dangerous terror outfit and is trying to rally children to spread its influence in Muslim-majority areas.

Hindustan Times reported that Rizvi added in his letter that ISIS influence can be openly seen in Kashmir.

Previously, Rizvi has been vocal about his support for controversial issues among the Muslim community, like the uniform civil code and a common law for all communities.
