Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Amit Shah’s remarks on Sabarimala were against the constitution and the Supreme Court. Shah, earlier on Saturday 27 October, had slammed the Kerala government over implementing SC’s order of allowing women in the temple.

Over 2,000 BJP and RSS workers have been arrested in the Sabarimala temple protests. BJP President Amit Shah on Saturday, 27 October, said that the party stands rock solid with the Ayyappa devotees fighting against the entry of women in the temple.

Vijayan, replying to Shah’s threat to topple the Kerala government, stated in his Facebook post that the state government doesn’t have its power from the mercy of the BJP, but of the people in the state. He also asked all the democrats to raise their voice against this threat.

Shah had warned the Kerala government that if the supression and arrests of devotees continue, the BJP workers will fight back and the state government will not be able to stay in power for long.

Amit Shah, while addressing party workers in Kannur, criticised Vijayan’s government for implementing the entry of women in Sabarimala. He said that they should give orders that people can follow and not ones that hurt people's faith.

The BJP president began his speech with 'Swamiya Saranam Ayyappa' mantra and warned the state goverment and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that they will have to pay a "heavy price" if forces continue to suppress the devotees.

“Chief minister must stop the brutality in the name of implementing the SC verdict.”
Amit Shah, BJP President

He also said that the women of Kerala are against the SC verdict. Shah claimed that the communist government is trying to attack temples and blamed them for creating an "emergency like situation in Kerala". He blamed the Left government for “destroying” Hindu traditions which only respect women.

“There is no restriction for women to offer prayers in any other Ayyappa temple [...] The uniqueness of the Sabarimala shrine has to be protected.”
Amit Shah, BJP President

Shah pointed out that the Left government has not implemented many court orders in the past and assured that the BJP will have Sabarimala issue as one of its main agendas.
