Rohtak Gangrape: Two Police Officials Suspended, One Transferred

Haryana DGP described the incident as a ‘heinous crime against humanity and women’.

The Haryana Police department on Thursday suspended two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) and transferred the station house officer (SHO), for their negligence in the Rohtak gangrape incident.

According to Hindustan Times, Sonipat ASI Joginder Singh was suspended for not taking prompt action on the victim’s complaint.

The second ASI from Rohtak, Samundar Singh, was suspended for irregularities in the paperwork related to the victim’s post-mortem. The ASI had allegedly recorded the victim’s gender as male, and had then changed it once the forensic department pointed out the error.

SHO Ajay Malik was transferred to police lines for dealing with the case in a casual manner.

Describing the incident as a ‘heinous crime against humanity and women’, DGP Sandhu said the case challan will be presented in court within a month, reported NDTV.

The DGP further mentioned that a departmental inquiry had been launched against the three policemen.

The Haryana Police has already arrested two men in connection to the alleged rape and murder of the 26-year-old woman in Rohtak. The case is being heard in a fast-track court.
