Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India. Along with Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel played a key role in the freedom struggle of the country.
Commonly called the Iron Man of India, he was a lawyer by profession and was given the title Sardar, meaning leader, by Mahatma Gandhi.
