Congress General Secretary UP (East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra began the second day of her maiden river voyage in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, 19 March.

Responding to BJP’s remarks on Congress’ 70 years in office, she said, “The argument also has an expiry date. Now they (BJP) should tell what they have done in their five years when they are in power,” said Priyanka.

“Report card, promotions, all of it sounds good, but there’s nothing on ground, I’m meeting people every day, all the people are in distress.”

Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on completion of two years in office, said, “Congress ruled the state for the maximum time period after independence, and in return, the party gave UP, the designation of a ‘Bimaru’ state."

On the second day of her boat journey, Priyanka Gandhi offered prayers at the Sita Samahit Sthal in Bhadohi.

She met party leaders in UP’s Bhadohi and encouraged the Congress workers to work hard on the ground for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “No one is satisfied with the Modi government. People will change this government in 2019. The farmers, youths and employees all are not happy. Together, they will change the government,” she said, according to Hindustan Times.

During her three-day visit, Priyanka will cover a distance of 100 km by boat in Ganga from Allahabad to Varanasi — the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hopping from one temple to another.

Her Ganga voyage is being seen by political observers as an effort to navigate her party out of a nearly three-decade-long wilderness in the state.
