A 22-year old woman, who was allegedly raped in Mohali, had to travel between two police stations as the station house officers (SHOs) bickered over jurisdiction, news agency IANS reported.

The National Commission of Women (NCW) has now issued a notice to the Punjab Police, citing a report.

The report says that the 22-year-old victim, a call centre employee, was abducted on 15 April from an area that comes under the jurisdiction of Phase VIII and raped in an area that falls in the Sohana Police Station jurisdiction.

Then he took her to an abandoned place near a village that comes under the jurisdiction of Sohana police.

After reaching here, the accused again tried to rape her, but the woman somehow managed to flee and called up Mohali police control room, The Times of India report cited by NCW says.

As per the report, both the police stations sent her to the other to lodge the complaint, citing jurisdiction issues.

A Zero FIR can be filed in any police station, regardless of the place of incidence of crime or jurisdiction, IANS reported.
