Lashing out at Pakistan for creating unrest in Kashmir, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday asserted that the neighbouring country is “continuously trying to derail peace in the valley.”
Today, I don’t feel hesitant in saying that Pakistan is continuously trying to create unrest in Kashmir. It wants to destroy it and derail peace in the Valley.Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister
Addressing a Tiranga rally in Uttar Pradesh, Singh added,
“Recently, I went to Pakistan and you all know our neighbouring country’s misdeeds. I don’t want to repeat what happened over there but would like to say that I did not let India’s pride go down there. I said one country’s terrorist cannot be the hero of another.”
Singh’s statement condemning the glorification of terrorists echoes much of what he said during his speech at the SAARC conference in Islamabad earlier this month.

Singh further said that violence cannot be a tool to regain peace in the valley.
I want to tell the people of Kashmir that we not only love the land of Kashmir but also its people. I would like to appeal to the Kashmiris that we do not want to see stones, bricks and firearms in their hands but pens, computers and jobs. We want to see you employed.
Clearly pointing at Pakistan, Singh said that “people with selfish motives” are forcing young Kashmiris to “pick up stones.”
“Which father will ask his children or youths to give up studies and pick up stones? I want to tell those having such nefarious intentions not to encourage the innocents to pick up stones. “
He urged Kashmiris to resort to “mutual dialogue” to restore normalcy.
