Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, 7 February, addressed the party's minority cell representatives from across the country at its annual convention, ‘Mera Samvidhaan Mera Swabhiman’.

During his address, Gandhi hit out at Amit Shah and said, “Amit Shah said India is a ‘golden bird’, meaning it is a product. The ‘golden bird’ generates profit and only the chosen ones should get the benefits.”

‘Narendra Modi is a Coward’

Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi called him a “coward” and challenged him to a debate on issues such as national security, Rafale and the economy.

“I challenge the BJP, let Narendra Modi ji debate with me for ten minutes on stage. He is scared, he is a darpok,” he said.

“I know PM Modi's character after fighting him for five years, he is a coward. When someone stands up to him, he runs away,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Rahul Gandhi said that fear can be seen on Modi’s face because he now knows that one cannot rule India by dividing people.

"The image of Narendra Modi is finished," Gandhi declared.

‘RSS Trying to Capture Institutions’

He also lashed out at the RSS and said, “The organisation’s motive is to discard the Indian Constitution and the country should run from Nagpur.”

“Congress will defeat Narendra, BJP and RSS in 2019, and those spreading hate will be removed,” he said. He also hit out at the RSS and alleged that, “RSS is attempting to capture institutions in the country”.

“We have not merely formed governments in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh... We will ensure that RSS people put in institutions in these states are removed.”

Gandhi said the institutions in India do not belong to any party, they belong to the country, and to protect them is our responsibility, be it Congress or any other party. “They (BJP) think they are above the nation, in three months, they will understand that the nation is above them,” he added.

The Congress chief also alleged that while China sent its army to Doklam, the prime minister flew to China and held a summit without an agenda.

He had folded his hands in front of China, Gandhi alleged.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Naseem Khan reacted to the news of stringent National Security Act (NSA) being slapped against three men accused of killing a cow in Madhya Pradesh, saying:

“If for cow protection, we impose a strict law like NSA during our rule (in Madhya Pradesh) then NSA should also be imposed on all those who commit atrocities on innocents in the name of cow protection.”
