1. Two Panchkula Residents Arrested for Abducting, Raping Minor Girl
Two Panchkula residents were arrested on Thursday night for abducting and raping a minor girl near Sarangpur area of Chandigarh. The incident took place in September, but an FIR was registered when the victim recorded her statement alleging rape by the two accused before a local magistrate three days ago.

2. Inter-State Vehicle Thief Nabbed After a Hot Chase
In normal circumstances, it would have gone unnoticed as a routine traffic offence. But when a Karnataka-registered sedan jumped the signal at Cheranalloor and sped past on Thursday, a police patrol team led by Ernakulam Town North Circle Inspector KJ Peter, engaged in vehicle checking, smelt something fishy.
When they gave the car a chase and intercepted it, the driver got out of the vehicle and took to his heels.
The cops chased him down, and their intuition proved correct. The 54-year-old driver P Nazeer, a resident of Bengaluru and originally from Kozhikode, was an accused in a series of inter-State vehicle thefts, and quite unsurprisingly, the car he was driving was also a stolen one!

3. Shalimar Bagh Murder: Husband in 3-Day Custody as Weapon Not Found
A Delhi court remanded Pankaj Mehra, accused of killing his wife, to three days' police custody on Friday, as officers said the murder weapon was yet to be recovered and the motive behind the crime was also to be ascertained.

4. Hoshiarpur Land Scam: SDM to Accept Applications for Compensation Till 10 November
A year after the multi-crore Hoshiarpur land scam, compensation work has resumed as sub -division magistrate (SDM) of Hoshiarpur Friday invited applications from those whose land was acquired for the four-laning project.
In the land scam case, the Vigilance Bureau (VB) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had registered a case against Hoshiarpur’s previous SDM as the main accuse.
However, the current SDM, Jitender Jorwal, invited applications for compensation till 10 November.

5. ‘Prince Lay Unconscious for an Hour in Classroom’
The family of 14-year-old Prince, who died after allegedly getting thrashed by his seniors at school on Thursday, has blamed the school for negligence. The boy's younger brother, Amit, who studies in the same school in Class VI, claimed that he heard the commotion and informed his teacher, but was asked to stay put.

6. GPS in Stolen Car Leads Police to Auto-Lifter Gang
The Delhi Police on Friday claimed to have busted an inter-State gang of auto-lifters with the arrest of five persons. The five Uttar Pradesh-based auto-lifters were arrested with help of a Global Positioning System (GPS) device installed in one of the cars they had stolen on 17 October.
Based on the last known location of the stolen car, the police cordoned the area and launched a search operation. They raided a go-down, from where Rahees, Akram, Kale, Imran and Tahir were nabbed.

7. Graft Case: Accused Sent to Judicial Custody for 14 Days
A special CBI court on Friday remanded SI Mohan Singh in judicial custody for 14 days. Meanwhile, the defense has moved an application in a local court seeking a separate barrack for the accused at Burail Model Jail because of threat from co-accused in jail.
Mohan was produced in a local court on Friday afternoon. The prosecution did not sought any further remand from the court and so the accused was sent to judicial custody.

8. Govt Seeks Action Against Illegal Hookah Bars in City
The Delhi government on Thursday wrote a letter to the Delhi Police commissioner seeking action against hookah bars running illegally from the national Capital.
Amulya Patnaik, Additional Director (Health) SK Arora, in a letter, said that despite repeated requests for action, the hookah bars were still running in various restaurants, eatery houses, and hotels "illegally" in several parts of the Capital.

9. Man Killed After Bar Brawl Turns Ugly in Mumbai’s Mira Road
A 26-year-old man died after he was attacked with a shard of glass in a bar fight in Thane’s Mira Road. Although a murder case has been registered no arrests have been made so far.
Late Thursday night, Novesh Shetty, along with his friends Nikhil and Nilesh, was waiting for another friend to join them at a bar in Mira Road when he heard a ruckus outside. The three went to check and found their friend Kartik arguing with a group of three men.
According to police sources, the victim had returned to Mumbai three days ago from Bengaluru where he worked in a hotel.
