1. Tihar Jail Warden Arrested for Smuggling Drugs

A Tihar jail warden has been arrested for trying to smuggle drugs into the prison. A Delhi Court has remanded him to 14 days in custody, as reported by The Indian Express.

The accused was found in possesion of 30 grams of marijuana and 150 grams of hashish when undergoing compulsory frisking. He was arrested under sections of the NDPS Act.


2. Man Beaten to Death Over Electoral Rivalry

A man was beaten to death over electoral rivalry in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, as reported by India Today.

Following this, locals staged a protest with his body on Thursday. A case has been registered against five people, all of whom are absconding. Panchayat rivalry is stated to be the reason behind the murder.

The body was sent for postmortem while security was heightened in Hashimpur village.

3. 50-Year-Old Pedestrian Gets Killed in Hit and Run Case

A 50-year-old pedestrian was killed on Tuesday in Bengaluru in an alleged hit and run case, as reported by The Hindu. The incident occured at 8:30 pm when a car knocked him down and fled the spot.

The victim sustained severe head injuries which he succumbed to later on. The police are investigating the matter.

4. Eight-Year-Old Raped and Buried Alive

An eight year old girl was allegedly kidnapped, raped and buried alive by her neighbour on Tuesday night, as reported by Hindustan Times.

The girl was a resident of Uttam Nagar in Delhi. The girl’s body was recovered on Thursday morning buried under mud. The accused was later arrested and handed over to the police by local residents who suspected him. He was a distant relative of the girl.

5. Bus Driver Stabbed in Road Rage Incident

A bus driver was stabbed with a sharp weapon on Tuesday afternoon in Mumbai.

A woman riding a two wheeler was trying to overtake the driver’s bus. The driver on seeing this shouted at her and an argument ensued between them. The woman then stopped her scooter and a pillion rider behind her started abusing the driver, after which he attacked him. The driver sustained injuries on his chest.

The accused fled the spot and is absconding. A case of attempt to murder has been registered.


6. Police Informer Found Stabbed to Death in Toilet

A police informer was found dead in a public toilet on Thursday morning in Chennai, as reported by The Hindu.

The police said he had recently had a fight with a mechanic who had misbehaved with his wife. They also said that a team was investigating the crime and is on the lookout for suspects.

7. Woman Strangled to Death by Live in Partner

A woman was allegedly strangled to death by her live in partner in Bengaluru on Thursday, as reported by The Hindu. The accused had suspected her fidelity. The victim was a divorcee living with the accused for the past five years.

On Wednesday night, her partner strangled her after a fight and escaped. Her neighbours found her lying dead and informed the police. After the complaint, the police have detained the accused and investigations are on in the case.


8. Professor Immolated by Husband, In Laws

A 35-year-old professor was allegedly immolated by her husband and in-laws in Lucknow, the police said on Thursday.

A complaint was lodged by the victim’s brother. An FIR has been registered in the matter. The main accused has been arrested while efforts are on to nab the rest of the accused.

9. Godman Gets Life Sentence for Raping Seven Girls of Family

A 43-year-old self-styled godman has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping seven girls.

Mehndi Kasim, arrested in 2010 has been found guilty of rape, causing miscarriage and criminal intimidation. According to the prosecution, Kasim knew the family where four sisters had mentally challenged. He promised the mothers he would cure their sons, while they should send him their daughters for treatment as well so that they dont give birth to mentally challenged sons.
