1. AAP Worker Shot Dead by SAD Leader

An AAP activist was shot dead allegedly by a SAD leader over a property dispute in Bhinder Kalan village in Moga, police said on Monday.

Former Akali Sarpanch Jagsir Singh allegedly went to encroach on a piece of land belonging to AAP worker Jagroop Singh on Sunday night, police said. As Jagroop put up resistance, Jagsir opened fire at him. Another person was also injured in the incident, police said.

The two were reportedly involved in a land dispute for the past 12 years, police said. A case of murder has been registered against Jagsir, but no arrest has been made yet. The injured is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

2. 95-Yr-Old Woman Murdered

A 95-year-old woman was found murdered at Daun Kalan village, about 15km from Patiala in the wee hours of Monday.

Her body was found lying at her cot outside her house with serious injury marks on the head which might have been caused with sharp edged weapon, police said. The blood stains were also found within 70-80 yards from where the body was found, Patiala SP Harvinder Singh Virk said. Police suspected that the woman was first taken by assailants to a nearby field and then kept the body on the cot after killing her.

3. Elderly Man Beaten to Death by His Nephew in Jammu

A 75-year-old man has been allegedly beaten to death by his nephew in the New Plot area of Jammu city, police said on Monday.

Jitender Singh had an heated argument with his uncle Soram Singh at his residence on Sunday, following which Jitender started beating his uncle with an iron rod, a police officer said.

He said the accused fled from the spot after leaving his uncle in a pool of blood who later succumbed to his injuries at Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu.

4. Man Hacks Son to Death Over Property Dispute

A farmer murdered his 32-year-old son near Ammapettai in Thanjavur district over a property dispute in the late hours of Sunday. Police have registered a case and initiated investigation to nab the accused who is on run.

According to police, the deceased G Bhagyaraj, an agriculture coolie and son of S Ganesan and Vedhavalli, was a drunkard and would often pick quarrels with his parents after consuming liquor.

Bhagyaraj wanted to get married and get the property divided but on being denied that, he attacked his mother with a knife. Vedhavalli sustained injuries in the attack, police said. Unable to bear his atrocity, Ganesan picked up a sickle and started hacking Bhagyaraj. The victim ran for cover into a nearby agriculture field, but Ganesan allegedly chased and hacked him to death. Subsequently, he fled from the scene.

5. 25-Year-Old Shoots at Father for Molesting His Wife

A youth from Farrukhabad district allegedly shot at and critically injured his father on Saturday night for making sexual advances towards his wife.

According to police, the youth, a resident of Imadpur Thamrai area was upset over his father’s regular alleged sexual advances towards his wife. On Saturday night, when Ratiram (50) repeated it allegedly in an inebriated state, his son Amit (28) shot at him.

6. UP: Three Gangrape Widow in Shamli

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three people inside her house in Ghari Dolatpur village in Shamli district, police said on Monday.

The accused entered the house and gangraped the victim, a widow, on Sunday. They also threatened to kill her if she disclosed about the matter, SHO Anuradha Singhal said.

A case has been registered against the trio Salman, Salim and Sada Hasan who are absconding, police said.

7. ‘Harassed’ by Money Lender, Four of Family Allegedly Commit Suicide

Four members of a family allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Kishangarh in Punjab after being “harassed” by a money lender, police said on Monday.

The bodies of the four were found near the fields in Kishangarh along the Jalandhar-Pathankot Highway. The deceased included a couple in their fifties and their children - a 20-year-old daughter and 25-year-old son, SHO Bhogpur Inspector Lakhbir Singh said.

Police said the family took the extreme step as they were allegedly harassed by a money lender.

8. Accused of Molestation, Dalit Boy Chained at Thana

In yet another incident highlighting the insensitivity of the police in dealing with juveniles, a 13-year old Dalit boy, accused of eve teasing a minor girl from the same community, was kept chained with fetters around his ankles at Kotwali Police station, Mainpuri, on Saturday.

The incident came to light when some media personnel visited the police station and saw the boy chained to a window grill in a room.

9. Teenage Girl Stripped and Molested, MMS Circulated on Social Media

A teenage girl was molested by a group of people who assaulted her in front of silent onlookers, tried to disrobe her and later put an MMS recording of the incident on social media, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Manjhra locality in Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district when the girl had gone to an under-construction building looking for her brother, SSP Abudai Krishnaraj S said.

Finding her alone, a group of hooligans in the area held her hostage, he said, adding, they tore her clothes, thrashed her in front of a large number of silent onlookers and molested her and even filmed it.
