1. Three-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped by Stepfather

A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her stepfather and dumped near a railway station in Bhopal, following which he was arrested, police said.

Rampal Verma, 32, a labourer, has been arrested for abducting and raping his step-daughter on 30 August, Government Railway Police’s Bhopal Inspector General (IG) AK Singh told reporters. The minor was found dumped near a bridge the next day. Singh said that after quizzing 800 people, they zeroed in on Verma.

He said that Verma gave contradictory statements and tried to dodge the police after they got some circumstantial evidence suggesting that he was guilty of the rape. The accused has finally admitted his crime, the IG said.

2. 20-Year-Old Attacked With Knife in New Delhi

A 20-year-old woman was attacked with a knife allegedly by a youth who had been stalking her for the past few months.

The crime took place on Saturday at a crowded market in outer Delhi’s Budh Vihar.

The attacker managed to flee the scene but was later caught and booked under relevant sections of IPC. The youth told the police that he was angry with the woman for rejecting his love proposals.

Police said the stalker earlier lived at the woman’s house as a tenant. He was evicted from the house after the family learnt that he had been following and sexually harassing their daughter. They had also filed a molestation case against him, after which police had him arrested.

3. Two Killed and Three Injured by Armed Robbers

Two persons were killed and three others injured by robbers in Limkheda Taluka in Dahod district, police said on Tuesday.

A group of around 15 robbers armed with bow and arrows, guns and wooden sticks attacked the house of one Udesinh Ravat on Monday night. They looted gold and silver jewellery, cash, and a mobile phone worth Rs 1.94 lakh from Udesinh’s house and his grocery shop, they said.

They injured Udesinh’s mother Kumatiben Ravat and daughter Sarlaben Ravat by attacking them with wooden sticks when they tried to resist, police said.

4. A 14-Year-Old Girl Files Rape Case Against Live-In-Partner

A 14-year-old girl has accused her live-in partner, also a minor, of “raping her repeatedly” over a course of one year in South East Delhi, police said on Monday.

The complainant alleged that she was living with the accused over the last one year in Jaitpur area here, police said.

The 16-year-old boy deserted her one day and disappeared and she returned to her family who then approached the police with a complaint, a senior police officer said.

The juvenile used to stay across the victim’s house in Jaitpur and that’s how they came in contact, he said. They became friends and eventually got into a relationship, police said.

5. Man Assaulted at Construction Site in Bengaluru

A man was allegedly assaulted by a group after he questioned the poor quality of construction work being taken up under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act project in Kurubarakunte in Devanahalli police station limits on Sunday morning.

The complainant, identified as Bayyappa Ramananjenaya – an agriculturist – has accused Ramesh and Narasimha Murthy of assaulting him.

Police said that the incident reportedly took place around 10 am, when Ramananjenaya went to Kurubarakunte to take stock of the construction work project.

6. Three Arrested for Duping Jobless Youth

Three people have been arrested by the commissionerate police within a week for duping youths of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs in the railways. The police sources said a big inter-state racket was functioning to get easy money by cheating the unemployed youths.

The fraudsters take money from the candidates and give them forge call letters and joining letters after selecting them through a fake interview panel, said a police officer.

“Interestingly, the fraud organisation will pay them first month’s salary to win their trust and then stop communication with the victims.”

7. Mystery Shrouds Death of 2 Students Near Villupuram

Two children of a residential school for dropouts run by a non-governmental organisation died under mysterious circumstances at Thirukovilur on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Ayyanar , 8, studying in Class III in the Annai Theresa Residential School run by Annai Theresa Trust, and Rajadurai, 11, a Class VIII student.

While Ayyanar was brought dead to the Thirukovilur GH, Rajadurai died in the Government Medical College Hospital at Mundiyambakkam a few hours later.

The residential school for dropouts sponsored by the Government under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme has a total strength of 92 students from Classes I to VIII.

8. ‘Held My Legs Down, Pressed My Belly Till Foetus Came Out’: 14-Year-Old Rape Victim

Recalling her eight-hour agony, a 14-year-old girl, who was forced to undergo an abortion by her rapist’s family, said, “Someone held my legs down and another pressed my belly till the foetus in my womb gave up.” After that she does not remember what happened.

Just a month after the brutal gangrape in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district, a similar incident came to the fore.

The incident took place five months ago when the victim was allegedly raped twice by a boy identified as Mohammad Yunus, 20, in Bhaipura village. As per the victim, the accused threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone.

9. Elderly Woman Murdered in East Delhi

A 63-year-old woman, who was running a social organisation in Mansarovar Park area in North East Delhi, was found murdered in her house, police said today.

Vimla Tiwari lived alone in her house at Ashok Nagar locality following her husband’s murder in Uttar Pradesh a few years ago. She was found murdered and lying on the floor of the house with head injury and a rope around her neck last night, a police officer said.

She was involved in social service through her NGO for anti-dowry and women’s exploitation issues. She was last seen on an evening walk on Saturday, he said.
