1. Seven People to Be Hanged in Rohtak Gangrape and Murder Case
Seven men convicted of gangraping and murdering a mentally challenged Nepalese woman in February this year have been awarded the death sentence by a special court in Rohtak.
A minor accused in the case is being tried in a juvenile court while a ninth suspect had committed suicide earlier.
The victim was brutally gangraped and murdered earlier this year, after which the men dumped her body at a deserted place in Akbarpur village on the Rohtak-Hisar road.

2. Nigerian Caught Holding Drugs Worth Rs 5 Crore in NCR
A Nigerian national was arrested by sleuths fromt he anti-narcotics bureau for allegedly smuggling and possessing banned drugs worth about Rs 5 crore in the international market, according to a report in the Business Standard.
About 2 kilogrammes of heroin was seized from the Nigerian’s residence in Greater Noida. The foreigner, who is in the country on a business visa, has been arrested under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), said the police.

3. Duo Who Jumped Parole Arrested
Two murder convicts, who jumped parole while serving life terms at Tihar jail, have been arrested from west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, police said today, reports the Business Standard.
The accused, identified as Devraj and Chintu Malhotra came in contact with each other inside jail premises. On escaping, they formed a gang involved in gambling, especially on cricket.

4. Two Teenage Girls Kidnapped, Gangraped in Ranchi
Two teenaged girls were allegedly kidnapped and gangraped by some people in the Ranchi, reports the Business Standard.
The girls, aged 17 and 19, were kidnapped in a car from Bardhaman Compound yesterday and gangraped at a secluded place, said the Additional Superintendent of Police.

5. Chennai Police Nabs 6 Chain Snatchers
The Times of India reports that the police have arrested six robbers, involved in a series of burglaries in north Chennai, from a hideout in Tiruvottiyur on Sunday night.
The arrested were identified as Vairamuthu, Karthi, Loganathan, Abbas, Abdul and Ilamparithi. A brief scuffle with the police ensued, after which they were arrested.

6. Two Dead, Two Injured in Suspected Gang War in Southwest Delhi
Two men were killed and two women injured in a suspected gang war between two groups in southwest Delhi’s Chawla area on the intervening night of December 20-21, reports The New Indian Express.
Sunil, alias Doctor, was shot dead by Nafe Singh, alias Mantri, and two accomplices at Deenpur Mod in Najafgarh area at around 11 pm. Some hours later at 2.30 am, Sunil’s brother-in-law, Kapil Sangwan, attacked Mantri’s house in Chawla and killed the latter’s father Harkishan Singh, and injured his wife Sharmila and mother Kamla Devi.
No arrests have been made so far.

7. Man Stabs Wife to Death in Chennai
The Times of India reports a 26-year-old man stabbed his wife to death with a screwdriver in the Tambaram all-woman police station on Monday evening.
Police say Ganapathy launched into the attack, which appears to be premediated, after the Tambaram police summoned him and his wife G Gowri for questioning in connection with a case the woman had filed to seek custody of their two sons, who Ganapathy had taken away on discovering his wife was in a relationship with another man.

8. Cop Crushed by High-Speed Dumper, Driver Caught
A traffic police constable, who had been deployed on duty for Republic Day and was on his way to the Delhi Police security unit to collect his pass, was was crushed by a speeding dumper near the Geeta Colony flyover, reports The Times of India.
Constable Brijlal was heading to Kotwali on his motorbike from Shahdara. He was hit from behind by a speeding truck. The driver, who attempted to flee, was caught by locals and handed over to the police.

9. Narcotics Seized Near Bangladesh Border
The Border Security Force has seized over one kg of narcotics from near the Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, according to the Business Standard.
Troopers of the 4th battalion of the BSF seized the material, suspected to be heroin, from near the international border in Lalgola area.
Nearly 45 kg of narcotics has been seized by the BSF, while six smugglers have also been apprehended from across the South Bengal frontier so far this year.
