1. Cyber Crime: Senior Citizen Conned Out of Rs 2 Crore in Mumbai

A 72-year-old residing in Bandra West was reportedly duped out of nearly Rs 1.97 crore by a man he befriended on Facebook, according to a NDTV report.

The fraud is being termed as the biggest cyber fraud involving an individual this year.

Vinod Kumar Ghuwalewala, (72) had been in touch with the man claiming to be in the US army, who told Ghuwalewala that he wanted to start a business and needed a partner. After Ghuwalewala received authentic-looking certificates and a call from a woman claiming to be from a bank, the senior citizen was duped into depositing the money into the bank. Ghuwalewala owns a factory of automobile spare parts in Nashik

The police suspect a major Nigerian racket behind the con, and Mumbai’s Cyber Criminal Cell of the Economic Offence Wing is investigating the case.

2. Leading Exporter’s Son Shot Dead in Faridabad

The son of a leading henna exporter was shot dead outside his home in the upscale Sector 16A in Faridabad on Wednesday night, police said.

Ankit Amar, 33, was shot dead while exiting his car in front of his home, according to a Hindustan Times report.

The murder was captured on CCTV and three people have been detained in conjunction to the murder. Police suspect the shooting may be over a property dispute, however investigations are still on.

3. Illegal Liquor Stock Worth Rs 1.21 Crore Seized in Maharashtra

Illegal liquor stock worth about Rs 1.21 crore was seized by the Excise department in Nashik on Thursday.

Two persons have been arrested in this connection, according to a PTI report.

Acting on a tip-off that a huge stock of liquor – banned from sale in Maharashtra – was being transported from Madhya Pradesh to the state, the Excise Department intercepted a truck and seized the 1,192 boxes of liquor bottles it was carrying.

Two persons, including the truck driver, were arrested and investigations are on.

4. Spurned Lover Behind Delhi Triple Murder

A 30-year-old man along with his friend have been arrested on 9 June in connection with the brutal murder of a woman and her two daughters at their residence in northeast Delhi’s Brahmapuri area earlier this week, police said.

According to police, prime accused, Raheesuddin, had a one-sided love affair with Mehrunisha (19), one of the victims, who was in a relationship with another boy in the locality, according to a PTI report.

He allegedly conspired a plot with his friend Javed (27) and went to Mehrunisha’s house with butcher knives where they allegedly hacked to death Saira and her daughters Mehrunisha and Shabnam (9).

After questioning over 100 persons in connection with the incident, police zeroed down on Raheesuddin. He had, however, left home on the pretext of a religious programme.

Raheesuddin was tracked in Delhi on the night of 8 June.

5. Man Who Wanted Son Kills Daughter

A man from Mumbai has been arrested for allegedly strangling his 18-month-old daughter, as he wanted a son instead, according to a Times of India report.

The incident happened on 15 May, and a complaint was filed by the man’s wife two weeks later.

The man had threatened his wife with dire consequences when she was pregnant to not have a daughter, and killed the infant after a fight with the mother on 15 May.

6. Man Arrested for Killing Wife’s Molester in Mumbai

A 37-year-old man was arrested in Mumbai for killing a man who misbehaved with his wife on Tuesday.

According to a Times of India report, Tejbahadur Mourya and Rajesh Singh (27), who were both daily wagers, had a fight in which Mourya stabbed Singh four times in his abdomen.

7. Man Arrested for Murdering Rickshaw Puller in Delhi

A man suspected to be mentally unstable killed a rickshaw puller by repeatedly hitting him with a stick.

The accused Vinod, a resident of Uttarakhand, claimed that he committed the ghastly murder on the commands of spirits that visited him in his dreams, according to a PTI report.

The cops caught him with the help of locals as he was trying to flee from the spot.
Vinod also claimed to have killed another person by hitting him with a stone and his claim is being verified, said police sources.

8. Four-Year-Old Raped in Village Near Faridkot, Punjab

A four-year-old girl was raped by an unidentified person in Malwal Jadid village in the Ferozpur district, leaving her with severe injuries, police said on 10 June.

The victim’s father said the child was sleeping with her mother in the courtyard of the house and went missing around 9.30 pm on 6 June, said a PTI report.

It is suspected that the accused entered the courtyard, gagged the minor and took her to a field, police said, adding he had left the child on the outskirts of the village.

The girl suffered severe injuries and underwent a surgery at the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot, police said.

9. Rape Charge Against Youth Who Eloped With Minor

A young coolie was charged with rape after eloping with a 15-year-old girl and having physical relations with her, according to a report in The Times of India.

The couple had eloped from Ghaziabad in UP and had come to Bandra in Mumbai, where Government Railway Police arrested the youth.

The accused has worked as a coolie at Delhi and then in Mumbai. He met the girl at a gurudwara in Ghaziabad and after he promised to marry her, the couple left UP.
