1. Bodies of two Women Found Burning in Haryana

Charred bodies of two young women were today found in a heap of burning cow dung cakes near Dehisara village of Sonepat district of Haryana.

Ramnivas, a villager, was returning from his field at around 3 pm when he noticed the fire and informed other villagers and police.

2. Cannabis Shipment to Sri Lanka Seized

Coast Guard personnel today seized 685 kg of ganja, which was found abandoned at the fourth sand dune in the sea off Danushkodi coast.

Police said the narcotic was meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka. The contraband was handed over to the Mandapam Marine police.

3. Husband Arrested as Wife Commits Suicide

A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Dadri Colony, following which her husband has been arrested on Monday, police said. Shashi committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan last night.

The victim’s husband Umesh, resident of Aligarh, has been arrested following a complaint by Shashi’s father who accused him of assaulting his daughter, police said.

4. Red Sander Smugglers Arrested in Andhra Pradesh

Police arrested seven alleged smugglers and seized 30 red sander logs besides three vehicles from them in two separate incidents on June 15 in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.

The arrests and seizures were made this morning near Kamalapuram on Ballari-Tirupathi highway and at Sugali Bidiki on Kurnool-Chittoor National Highway.

5. Gang Selling Fake Car Registration Arrested

A gang selling cars with fake registration certificates was arrested by the Warangal Commissionerate from Parimala Colony at Hanamkonda here today, a police official said.

Addressing a press conference, Warangal Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu said that six cars, a tractor, a computer, a printer, Rs 50,000 in cash and 30 gram of gold was seized from them.

6. TDP MLA Revanth Reddy’s Custody Extended: Cash-for-Vote

A Hyderabad court on Monday extended judicial custody of TDP legislator A Revanth Reddy and two others till June 29 in the cash-for-vote scam.

As their custody was ending on Monday, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana produced them before the magistrate, who extended their remand by two weeks. Forensic reports of the audio tapes related to the case are awaited.

7. Naxal Attacks in Chhattisgarh

A police official was today injured in a gun-battle between security personnel and Naxals in dense forests in the district of Chhattisgarh.

The exchange of fire took place under Bakarkatta police station limits this evening when security personnel were carrying out a search operation based on inputs, a senior police official said.

8. Another Journalist Attacked in Uttar Pradesh

Days after a Shahjahanpur-based social media journalist was set on fire for writing against a minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government, a brutal attack on a TV journalist has come to light from Pilibhit district.

Haidar Khan, who was reporting on cases of land grabbing by a local criminal Arvind Prakash, was attacked by him on the night of June 13.
