1. Gardener Held for Raping 12-Year-Old in Mumbai

A 25-year-old gardener working at a housing society in Mulund was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl who resides in the building. After the incident, the accused gifted her a mobile phone while asking her to keep mum.

According to Navghar police, the incident took place on 14 November in the washroom built for servants on ground floor of the housing society. The accused had befriended the girl over the past year, the police said.

When she came down to play in the garden, he allegedly took her to the washroom and raped her.

2. Man Murders Alcoholic Wife With Mom's Help

Frustrated with her alcohol addiction, a man strangulated his wife with the help of his mother in Mahora village in Shahdol division's Anuppur district. The two have been placed under arrest.

The man, identified as Lok Singh, told police that his wife, Dayawati Gond, would allege that he had illicit relations with his mother and that she would quarrel with him and his mother without any provocation daily.

He said that the situation was making his mother miserable.

3. Disabled Girl Gang Raped in UP

A 20-year-old girl with disability was allegedly gang raped in a village in Asmoli police station area, police said.

The girl was alone in her house at night when two youth of the same village identified as Yunus and Musharraf barged in and raped her, police said.

On the complaint of the family of the victim, an FIR has been filed and girl sent for medical examination, police said, adding that efforts were on to nab the culprits.

4. Bulandshahr: Assault Victim Says She Was Gang Raped Too

The woman, who along with her friend was assaulted, allegedly by Bajrang Dal members, in Khurja town of UP’s Bulandshahr district on Sunday, has alleged that she was gang raped too but police did not lodge her complaint in this regard.

The victim’s statement was recorded before the court on Thursday. Police have included the gang rape charges in the FIR on the basis of her statement in court.

Draped in a burqa, the woman in her late 20s told The Indian Express that she lived in Bulandshahr city with her husband and three children and had come to visit her parents in Khurja a few days ago.

According to her, she and her friend were talking while waiting for pizza when some persons, claiming to be Bajrang Dal members, attacked them.

5. Infant Assaulted: Daycare Centre Owner, Help Booked for Attempt to Murder

The owner and domestic help of a Kharghar daycare centre were charged with attempt to murder a day after they were arrested for assaulting a nine-month-old girl under their care. Both the accused had been previously booked for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

While the owner was released on bail the same day, the help is now in police custody. The CCTV footage at the centre shows the help throwing the baby to the floor and tossing her around. The owner is likely to be rearrested, the police said.

“We have written a letter to the court requesting the owner’s bail be cancelled, after which the court has sent a notification to her. So there is a high possibility of her arrest now,” said Madhukar Pandey, joint commissioner of police of Navi Mumbai.

6. Woman's Body Found in Well; Police Suspect Murder

The body of a woman was found in a drinking water well in Malaiyamparai village near Thiruvellarai on the outskirts of Trichy on Thursday.

Villagers informed the village administrative officer (VAO). The Mannachanallur police were notified and they arrived at the spot. When they retrieved the body from the well, they found an injury mark on her head and left ear.

Blood stains were also found on the platform around the well. They estimated the victim's age to be around 50 years.

7. Seven-Year-Old Boy Abducted and Murdered in Mumbra

The highly decomposed body of a seven-year-old boy was exhumed near a slum colony in Mumbra on Thursday, 12 days after the child went missing. A 25-year-old man, who the police said was enamoured with the child's mother, has been arrested for the murder.

The accused, Santosh Sharma, who had been nabbed, told the police that he had kept the boy in confinement on a hillock in Mumbra. However, after taking the police on a wild goose chase, he managed to escape from custody on Wednesday.

On Thursday, when Sharma was caught again, with the handcuff still dangling from his wrist, he led the police to the spot where he had buried the body.

8. Ahmedabad Minor Gang Rape: Seven Held

The Ahmedabad police on Friday arrested seven persons in the alleged gang rape of a minor girl who was rescued by the police on Thursday from Kalikund village, Dholka, in Ahmedabad district.

Among the arrested are residents of the village and a student of a private university. Police said the seven were identified as Kishore Patel (19), a resident of Vasna (Ahmedabad), Sagar P Patel (26), Mayur Patel (30), Dhaval Patel (22), Hitesh Patel (24) and Kaushik Patel (28) — all residents of Chaloda village in Dholka — and Jay Motiwala (20), who comes from Surat.

9. Anganwadi Worker 'Raped' by Trader

An anganwadi worker has alleged that she had been raped by a local trader, who also assaulted her physically and threatened her with dire consequences.

The complainant has alleged that she got a call on 20 November. The caller introduced himself as Sunil Saini and told her that he was her brother’s friend.

He told her that her identity proofs, including her ration card, voter card and aadhar card were with him and asked her to collect the same.

She said the man called her to a tent house located near the Sheila Bypass chowk in the town to collect the documents. When she went to the shop, he allegedly raped her. When the woman resisted him, he allegedly assaulted her with a steel spoon.
