1. BSF Shoots 2 Cattle Smugglers in West Bengal

Two cattle smuggles were shot dead by Border Security Force(BSF) personnel at Anuradhapur village in Malda district of West Bengal on Monday, according to a PTI report.

BSF officials said a group of people were smuggling cattle from the village near the Indo-Bangladesh border by cutting barbed wire fencing. When the men in uniform challenged them, they fired and BSF personnel retaliated, killing two people on the spot, while others fled.

The officials said the two deceased were yet to be identified.

2. Seven Juveniles Flee Remand Home in Ranchi

Seven boys aged between 14 and 17 years fled a state-run observation home in Dumadaga, Ranchi, according to a Telegraph report. The juveniles managed to get away even though the remand home had a 15-foot high boundary wall along with a 3-foot high barbed wire topping.

This is the second such incident in 9 months. Five of the boys, referred from Khunti sub-jail, were accused of murder, robbery, witch-hunt and a case under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. Two others had been accused of Naxalite activities.

3. Two Injured in Firing in Outer Delhi

Two people, including a 12-year-old boy, sustained bullet injuries when an unidentified duo allegedly opened fire at a crowd following a failed attempt to kill one of their rivals, in outer Delhi’s Vijay Vihar area on Monday.

The injured, identified as Rakesh (29) and Vimal (12), were rushed to a hospital, where they were declared to be out of danger. The incident took place around 11:30 am when two people on a motorbike went to Vijay Vihar locality to allegedly kill a cable operator.

The bullet missed the target and by the time the duo tried to kick-start their motorbike they were surrounded by a crowd which had called up police.

4. Delhi Tourist Found Dead at a Hotel in Goa

A Delhi-based man was found dead in a hotel in Panaji, Goa. According to police, his four companions are missing. Virender Kumar had checked into the hotel with four unidentified men, was found dead in his room on Monday morning.

Kumar died due to suffocation. Medical examination revealed that he was strangled using a bed-sheet.

5. Man Held for Killing Drunkard Brother

A man was arrested on Monday for allegedly murdering his drunkard brother in Spring Road area of Vishakhapatnam, according to a PTI report.

Mahendra Singh Suri allegedly slit the throat of his younger sibling Anand Suri in front of their shop, according to police. Police said Mahendra was fed up with Anand’s boozing and frequent demands for money. DCP (Crime) T Ravi Kumar Murthy said the murder was captured on CCTV. A case was registered and investigation is underway.

6. Murder Case Witness Killed a Day Before Recording Statement

A 52-year-old man, who was a witness in his son’s murder case, was strangulated to death a day before recording his statement before a court at Kadirpud village in Muzaffarnagar area, according to a PTI report.

Mahilal was killed on Sunday. He was to record the statement before a court on Monday in the murder case of his son Anil.

7. Man Kills Son on Father’s Day

An elderly man allegedly killed his 28-year-old son on Father’s Day over a property dispute on Monday.

Pralhad Shende (55) axed his son Pintu to death in the wee hours of Sunday after a heated argument. The father-son duo used to fight over sharing their farmland.

Pintu had allegedly beaten his father earlier and threatened to kill him over the issue

They had a heated argument again on Saturday late night and later Pralhad allegedly attacked his son with an axe, killing him on the spot.

Subsequently, Pralhad was arrested on Monday and an offence of murder was registered against him under section 302 of IPC.

8. Father Accused of Raping Daughter Commits Suicide

A 65 year-old man, who was cleared by the CB-CID wing of Tamil Nadu police of charges of rape of his minor daughter, allegedly committed suicide.

Police said Muthupandi consumed poison in his house on Saturday night and died at a local government hospital on Monday without responding to treatment.

Local Police had initially charged Muthupandi with raping his daughter and sexually abusing her repeatedly, leading to his arrest in October 2015. However the CB-CID took over the investigation after the matter was taken to the High Court.

9. Four Men Gangrape a Girl and Record the Act

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gangraped by four people who also recorded the act and circulated it on social media in Muzaffarnagar, according to PTI report.

The incident happened three days ago and a case in this connection was registered on Sunday by the victim’s family.

According to the complaint, the four youths - Sidharth, Ankit, Monti, and Atul Kumar - abducted the girl and took her to a flat where they raped her. They also allegedly made a video clip of the act and circulated it on social media, the police said.

The victim has been sent for medical examination and would be produced in a court for recording her statement under section 164 CrPC. The four accused are absconding.
