Yes, PTI Confirms Its Official Twitter Account Was Indeed Hacked

In the past few months, the Twitter accounts of Barkha Dutt, Vijay Mallya and Rahul Gandhi have all been hacked.

Press Trust of India’s Twitter handle is seemingly the latest victim of online hacking. On Wednesday, when Arun Jaitley presenting the Union Budget in Parliament was the biggest news of the day, the official Twitter account of the news agency was hacked.

The agency took to its account and said that it was indeed hacked, and that it was not responsible for the messages that went out.

In the past few months, the Twitter accounts of Barkha Dutt, Vijay Mallya and Rahul Gandhi have all been hacked.

In the past few months, the websites of National Security Guard, National Green Tribunal, and the Army Cantonement Board in Ahemadabad have all fallen prey to hacks.

The Twitter accounts of Rahul Gandhi, Vijay Mallya and Barkha Dutt were also hacked by a group which calls itself “Legion”.

According to the PTI website, the news agency has “a reach as vast as the Indian Railways”. The website adds: “It employs more than 400 journalists and 500 stringers to cover almost every district and small town in India."

The hacking immediately caught the attention of Twitterati.

Within 15 minutes, the unusual tweets were deleted and the agency seems to be in chanrge of their account again.
