The Supreme Court on Friday has refused to entertain a plea seeking mandatory playing of national anthem in all courts, including the apex court and the high courts, without a formal petition.
The Attorney General submitted the response to the plea saying that the petitioner should file a proper application.
This comes just days after the court ruled that it’s compulsory for national anthem to play in movie theatres before every screening.
The apex court also said on Friday that its order on national anthem should not be overstretched. The plea asked for the anthem to be played before the beginning of court proceedings.

This contradictory nature of the Supreme Court’s direction hasn’t gone down well with people on Twitter.
The court entirely shot down the plea saying that first a proper application should be there. And some are miffed that the apex court can’t even look at the possibility of the anthem playing in courtrooms after its ruling for theatres.

While the Supreme Court has asked for a proper petition to be filed, it is to be seen whether they hold the same standards for courtrooms and movie theatres.
